mission statement

We established the AZ RedHawks Softball Program because we wanted to create a group in the Mesa area for girls of all ages to have access to indoor and outdoor training from previous collegiate and professional athletes, year round.

We hope to prepare your daughter for life during and after softball. We intend to do this by establishing outstanding work ethic, teaching time management and how to be a student-athlete, by cultivating a safe and positive training environment for each athlete, by prioritizing the success of the team over individual success, and by demonstrating the importance of community service. Our coaching staff believes that these key principles will lead to great success within the program!

We are very excited to welcome new players to the AZ RedHawks!!!

Please e-mail our director, Stacey Stepek. We would love to meet you!

Stacey grew up in Downers Grove, IL where she was a 4-year varsity letter softball and basketball player. At her high school, she set state home run records, competed in the state home run contest her senior year, and lead the area in fielding percentage at first base. She earned All-Area and All Conference awards, along with being a part of the National Honors Society and graduating in the top 10% of her class of 989 students.

From high school, Stacey was awarded a scholarship to play Division I softball at the University of South Carolina-Upstate in Spartanburg, SC from 2004-2008. During her time at USC Upstate, her team led the nation in runs scored per game, batting average, stolen bases, and fielding percentage. Her team won 3-4 conference championships in the Atlantic Sun conference, and were able to advance to the conference tournament each year. Stacey graduated with Cum Laude honors along with the Physical Education student-athlete of the Year award in her Senior year. She also helped her University’s SID with athletic events and broadcast.

From 2008-2015, Stacey moved back to the northwest suburbs of Illinois where she taught Physical Education and coached volleyball, basketball, and softball. Stacey took her Hampshire High School varsity program to new heights within her first 2 years as a head, winning conference for the first time in 20+ years and advancing to the playoffs. She was also named the Northwest Herald Coach of the Year in 2014.

The past two years Stacey has been living in Arizona where she has taught and coached. Stacey was the assistant softball coach at Benedictine University at Mesa in Mesa, AZ. She was a part of their inaugural season in 2016, where they took 2nd in conference and then in their second season the team made their first ever conference tournament appearance in Redding, CA.

Stacey is very excited to begin this new program and for everyone to meet her wonderfully talented and hardworking staff. Go RedHawks!!!
